Rates, Deposits and the Fine Print

Ranges, not teaser prices. Every number below moves with season and demand, and the deposit matters as much as the daily rate.

Rates and Deposits

Premium rental pricing in Punta Cana is seasonal, thin on supply, and full of asterisks when sold carelessly. The table below removes the asterisks: typical market ranges across a normal year, for rentals of three days or longer, with delivery included in the airport and Bavaro zone. Your dates, the specific car and the delivery point set the final number, which arrives in writing before you pay anything. From late December through March, and around Easter, expect the upper half of every range and book weeks ahead; September and October are the soft months, and the same car can cost forty percent less. Weekly bookings usually earn a meaningful discount on the daily figure, and a price far below these ranges means the car, the year or the insurance is not what the listing implies.

The deposit should sit on a credit card in the driver's name. A credit card hold is an authorization: the money stays in your account and is released after return and inspection, though your bank can take three to fifteen business days to show it back on the card. Debit cards, where accepted at all, mean the funds are frozen for that whole period, which is worth avoiding on a 3,000-dollar hold. Cash deposits are sometimes possible on lower classes and unusual on premium cars.

The excess deserves more attention than the daily rate. It is the maximum you pay from your own pocket if the car is damaged, regardless of fault, and on the Range Rover tier it is sized like a used car, which is precisely why the deposits on that class run where they do. Excess-reduction packages cost 25 to 60 dollars per day depending on the class and bring the figure down sharply or to zero; on a Cayenne that fee is usually rational. Read the exclusions either way, since tires, glass, the underbody and interior damage are the classic carve-outs, and the underbody exclusion is the reason the fleet page keeps warning about unpaved roads in a low car.

A properly quoted premium rate here includes the legally required base insurance, normal mileage for tourist use, and delivery within the airport and Bavaro zone; confirm each in writing rather than assuming. Common legitimate extras are delivery to Uvero Alto or beyond, a second driver, child seats, and out-of-hours handover for late-night flights, while fuel follows the usual full-to-full arrangement and the toll plazas on the Autopista del Coral take cash, so keep small bills in the console. Reading any quote, ask for one number for the whole rental and three figures behind it: the deposit hold, the insurance excess, and the cost of reducing that excess. A seller who answers all four plainly is worth dealing with, and a seller who answers with a daily rate and enthusiasm is quoting the cheapest version of a car you have not seen. The confirmation you receive from us names the exact car, the total, the hold and the excess in one message, and that message is the contract we hold ourselves to at the curb.

Frequently asked questions

Is the deposit charged to my card or just held?
Held. It is a credit card authorization, not a charge. After the car is returned and inspected, the hold is released, and your bank then takes three to fifteen business days to show the funds back on the card.
Can I pay the deposit in cash or with a debit card?
Credit card in the driver's name is the standard and by far the best option. Cash deposits are sometimes possible on lower classes but are unusual on premium cars. Debit cards, where accepted, mean the money is actually frozen rather than merely authorized.
Are your prices fixed once I book?
Yes. The ranges on this page describe the market, but your written confirmation states one total, one deposit and one excess figure, and those numbers do not move afterward.
Does the rate change if I return the car at a different location?
Usually, yes. Returns within the Punta Cana and Bavaro zone are typically free. A drop-off in La Romana or Santo Domingo carries a one-way fee, commonly 50 to 150 dollars depending on distance, agreed before booking.

Match the number to the car

Each class on the fleet page carries its own notes on condition, clearance and where it belongs on this coast.
